William Matthias Mottern, better known as "Tice" died at his
home south of Milligan on Sunday afternoon after being an invalid
for 14 years. Funeral services at the home on Tuesday afternoon
were in charge of Rev. Mr. Donaldson, pastor of Phanuel Lutheran
Church near Wallace. Burial at Mt. Moriah. He was the son of
Nicholas and Sarah Mottern and was born on the farm where he
died, Dec 15, 1857 Dec 23, 1887 he marr. Mary Emily Swaim, who
survives him with two daughters, Mrs. Harry Ramsay and Mrs.
Everett McClain; two grandchildren and two brothers, John and Al
Mottern. He was a member of the Old Philadelphia Lutheran
