Saturday evening, last as Corwin MOTE, living a few mi. E. of  the city was on his way home from town his team became frightened  near the toll gate on the Shannondale gravel road and started to  run. Mr. Mote was thrown heavily to the ground killing him  instantly by dislocating his neck. The coroner found a verdict in  accordance with the above facts. The body was found by Dr. Thomas  of Shannondale about 7 o'clock Sat. evening. The coroner was  summoned immediately and he took the remains to the toll house  kept by Mrs. Gardner where an inquest was held with the  assistance of B.R. Russell. The deceased was a son of Jere Mote,  of Darlington, owner of Mote's Mills, which were sold some time  ago and Mr. Mote was about 35 years of age, and leaves a wife and  two children to mourn his loss.
