Samuel C. Moore, a brother of Richard L. Moore, died at his  home in Lafayette on Sunday afternoon after an extended illness.  He was born in Lexington, Va. 79 years ago and was one of a  family of 11 children, of whom Richard L. Moore is the only  survivor. He came to this state near the close of the Civil war,  being then a boy of 16. He engaged in a number of mercantile  enterprises in which he was very successful. At the time of his  death he owned four farms in Tippecanoe Co. and also owned a  large tract of land adjoining R.l. Canine's farm on the west and  north. Mr. Moore took great interest in public affairs. He was an  ardent Democrat but was elected clerk of Tippecanoe Co. by a  majority of 49 when the rest of the ticket went Republican by  over 2,000. Funeral services at Lafayette on Tues. were attended  by Dr. B.M. Harbeson and Richard L. Moore of this place and Miss  Maude Moore of Indianapolis. He leaves the widow and the one  brother. - kbz
