Mr. Moore was the son of Robert and Freelove Moore and  was born south of town Sept 19, 1846. All of his life was spent in  and around Waveland except 3 years service in the Civil War. He  was the youngest of 3 brothers who answered his country's call.  He entered Co N 40th IVI as a corporal and was honorably discharged Dec 21, 1866. He was a member of Garland Post NO 423,  GAR and Post Commander at the time of his death. The surviving  members attended in a body. He married Miss Mary E. A  number of years ago he made a confession of faith to Christ, but  did not belong to any Church. He always had a great respect for  religion and had a firm belief in God as an all wise ruler. He  was of a kindly disposition; affectionate towards his family and  a warm hearted friend. He was always cheerful, and faced death at  the last with the same courage that characterized his youthful  years. - transcribed by kbz
