Ladoga, Nov 30 - David Thomas Mitcheltree, 86, died at his home here Saturday afternoon at 12:25 o'clock. Death was attributed to complications arising from injuries suffered in an automobile accident Nov 20. Mitcheltree had recently been returned to his home from Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville. Born March 9, 1861 on the old Mitcheltree homestead farm located one and one half miles SW of New Ross, he was the son of George W. and Rebecca A. Britts Mitcheltree. He first married Mary E. Peffley March 6, 1884. She preceded him in death April 2, 1891. He married Mary F. Pruitt March 4, 1903 in Chicago. He was a retired farmer and had spent 74 years on the Mitcheltree homestead. He was one of the oldest member of the New Ross Methodist Church had served 20 years on the Clark Twp advisory board and was one of the organizers of the New Ross stae bank about 20 years ago. He was a member of one of the pioneer families of the region, Ladoga having been named by his great grandfather, John Britt, after a lake on the Russo-Finnish border. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Sherman Garner of Crawfordsville; four grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and two nieces. He was preceded in death by 3 daughters from his first marriage, Bessie See, Letha and Clara, two daughters from his second marriage, Iris McClain and Ruth Mitcheltree, who died in infancy; four sisters and a brother. Funeral services will be held Tues afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the New Ross Methodist Church with Rev. William Blean of Plymouth in charge assisted by Rev. RS Gwin, the pastor. Burial in New Ross Cemetery. Friends may call at the residence in Ladoga.
