New Market -- Roy Mitchell, 41, a WWII veteran, who for a number of years operated a garage at Byron, died Monday morning at the home of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Edna Taylor in Browns Valley. He had been in failing health the past year and seriously ill six months. Born May 14, 1912, in Parke County, Mr. Mitchell was the son of Ben and Blanche Deere Mitchell. He married Genevieve Taylor in 1942. He was a member of the Rockville Post of the American Legion. Surviving are the widow; and a daughter, Janet, 6 years old, the parents, a brother, Claude Mitchell, Byron, and two sisters, Mrs. Wandalene Brissey, Linnsburg, and Miss Pauline Mitchell, Chicago. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. wednesday at the Byron Christian Church. Friends may call at the Edna Taylor home in Browns Valley.
