Claude T. Mitchell, 73, a farmer and resident of Wallace community since 1911, died at approximately 4 a.m. Monday Dec 29, 1958 at his home. He had been in failing health for two years. Born Nov 6, 1885, in Montgomery County, near Waynetown, he was the son of Nobel and Temple Robinson Mitchell. He was married Sept 16, 1906 to Jewell Clore, who survives. A member of the Byron Christian Church, he was a former Fountain County Road Superintendent for 3 years. Survivors besides the wife are 3 sons: Paul of Wallace; Verne of Kingman and Robert Lee, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Mae Cork and Mrs. Idell Ellingwood of near Hillsboro, Mrs. Geneva Ellingwood of Ladoga and Mrs. Maude Pyle of Veedersburg. Other survivors are one brother, Ben Mitchell of Marshall; one sister, Mrs. Claude Myers of Brocton, Ill; 16 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. One child preceded him in death. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Crumley Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. John Servies officiating. Burial was in old Union Cemetery near Waveland. - transcribed by kbz
