Mills - Sarah Marshall

Thursday morning the tolling of the bells at Center Church and at the College announced the death of Mrs. Sarah Mills, the aged widow of Professor Caleb Mills. Mrs. Mills was born at Dunbarton, New Hampshire, Jan 6, 1806. She was married to Professor Mills in Sept 1833 removing the same year to this County where she has since resided. She was one of the pioneers of the County and shared all the trials and triumphs of Professor Mills in the founding of Wabash College. Professor Mills died Thursday, Oct 17, 1879, his wife expired on the same day of the month and same day of the week about two years later. Only two children are living: Mrs. Blackford Condit of Terre Haute and Mrs. MO Gregg of this city. The funeral took place at two o'clock today from the family residence, services conducted by Rev. JP Stratton and Dr. JF Tuttle.
