In apparent good health and with the promise of many years yet, was the condition of Mrs. T. J. Mills one week ago last Sunday, and no thought that her death was near came to herself or her family, but ere the setting of that day’s sun she was the victim of paralysis and her life hung by a brittle thread, which broke on last Sunday evening when a second stroke of the disease caused her death. She had appeared better during the day and ate a hearty dinner, but late in the evening the glad hopes of the father and son and friends were turned to sorrow, and in a few minutes death was in the home.  Elizabeth A. Pierce, daughter of James and Lydia Pierce, was born Nov. 6, 1859; died Jan. 4, 1903, aged 43 years, 1 month and 24 days. She was united in marriage to Thomas J. Mills, Aug. 27, 1879, to which union one son was born. She became a member of the Baptist Church in 1878, under the pastorate of the Rev. C. J. Bowles.  The funeral service was conducted Wednesday forenoon at the home by Rev. J. P. Henson, a large number of the relatives and friends being present. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The pall bearers were six of her girl schoolmates—Mrs. B. T. Merrell, Mrs. J. E. Grenard, Mrs. Lida Bannon, Mrs. Charles Higbee, Mrs. Jennie Fouts, and Mss Ida Fouts. Interment was made at the Masonic Cemetery.
