The following obituary was read: Samuel Milligan was born on January 18, 1879 the fifth of 7 children born to James Robert and Mary Frances Milligan, at the home place 1/2 mi SE of Waveland. Sam continued to live here for several years after his father's death which occured in 1899, assuming care of the place and his widowed mother. On 18 May 1908 he was married  to Miss Mary McClain and to this union a son, Max was given who, with the sorrowing widow, two brothers, a sister, nieces & nephews and a host of relatives and friends, survive to mourn his loss. In the year 1918 Sam sold the home place and removed to the farm near Milligan where he lived until his death on the morning of Dec 17, 1932. In his youth he united with the Presbyterian Church of Waveland. He was a loving husband, father and brother -- a true friend and neighbor -- always ready with assistance of any kind that was in his power to give. He rejoiced with his friends and the tear of sympathy fell at another's sorrow. His love for children was very marked and a passion, one might say. He was never too busy for a romp with the little ones. He was affiliated with the Blue Lodge, F & AM of Waveland; also the Scottish Rite & Murat Shrine of Indianpaolis. Among those present from out of town were Mrs. Jasper McClain and Mr. and Mrs. William McClain of Decatur, Ill; Dr. and Mrs. Dan Strong of Terre Haute; Mrs. Mayme Lee of Guion; Mrs. James Gilliland and OK Galloway of Crawfordsville; Judge and Mrs. Hancock of Rockville. Dr. Harting of Bainbridge, Foster Glover of Frankfort, Mrs. Mary Shirk and Miss Bessie McClain of Indianapolis. - transcribed by kbz
