In keeping with the simple and direct character of the man and conforming to his indifference to ostentation and display was the funeral services for the late Harry J. Milligan of Indianapolis held at Center Church in this city this afternoon at two. Dr. Walter Johnson offered a brief prayer and read a selection from the Bible. Dr. George L. Mackintosh, with whom Mr. Milligan had been so closely associated in working for Wabash College, offered a closing prayer and that was all. Then the funeral party went to Oak Hill where the interment occurred. The honorary pallbearers were: Capt. WP Herron; Benjamin Crane; HH Ristine; Dr. IA Detchon; Prof JH Osborne; CM Crawford; Judge Jere West; OM Gregg and WB Austin of Chicago. The active pallbearers were six students of Wabash College: Fred VanBuskirk; JV Beamer; TE Plummer; FW Cravens; CR Wright and JW Broxon. The faculty and students of Wabash attended in a body.

Former local man and president of Board of Wabash Trustees, expires -- Spent his early life in Crawfordsville; Left here after graduation from Wabash in 1873 -- gave park to city -- funeral to be here -- Fifteen minutes after he was stricken with acute indigestion at his home, 1409 N. Delaware St, Indianapolis, Harry Joseph Milligan, for years a resident of Crawfordsville and pres. of the board of trustees of Wabash College d. Sunday evening at 7:15. Death came unexpectedly althou Mr. M. had not been feeling as well as usual during the past two days. The physician ..... and he gave efficient service. He had held other receiverships and was interested in a number of investments in Indianapolis. Crawfordsville is indebted to Mr. Milligan for Milligan Park, the large stretch of land int he SE part of the city, given to the city a few years ago by the deceased. Plans are under way to make this land into a suitable municipal park. The funeral will occur on Wed. After a service at Indianpolis the funeral party will come to C'ville overland in automobiles and a service will be held in Center Church followed by interment at Oak Hill, where Mr. M's parents and sisters are buried. It is the request of the family that no flowers be sent to the church.

Harry J. Milligan died at his home in Indianapolis of acute indigestion Sunday evening. Mr. Milligan was born in Waveland and was the son of Joseph Milligan, one of the early merchants of this place. He attended the Old Academy and afterwards graduated from Wabash College of which he has been one of the trustees for many years. By profession he was an attorney. Funeral services were held at the Center Presbyterian Church in Crawfordsville, Wednesday afternoon. Samuel J. Milligan, William Milligan, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Milligan, Charles Milligan, John V. Milligan and Samuel McNutt were present.
