At the funeral of William Miller last week an unusual scene was presented, the pallbearers representing both sides of the late war. At the breaking out of the war Mr. Miller was living in Virginia and soon became a member of the 58th Virginia Infantry, and for four years battled for the lost cause, and as he then thought for the defense of his home. Some years ago he came with his family to this place, he then having a daughter here, Mrs. W. B. Lynch. While he was a quiet, unassuming old man, he made many friends and all had a kind word for him and were shocked to hear of his sudden death Thursday morning. Short services were held at the home Friday by Rev. Krewell. Those of the Confederate service acting as pallbearers were W. R. Lynch, John Booker, and S. S. Hatch, and those of the Union side were E. P. McClaskey, John Corns and J. A. Marshall.
