In speaking of the big dinner given in honor of Uncle Vol. Miller on Christmas Day, Sandy said last Sunday: “There was one man we should have invited to that gathering and that man is Mart Simpson, the veteran fisherman. Mart acted as bridegroom at Vol’s wedding which occurred about the year 1852 at the old Black Horse travern. The tavern was owned and conducted by Seno Cope, long since death. Vol Miller met with a painful accident last Saturday afternoon while riding down the Covington Hill with Mr. Duncan in the latter's wagon the breeching suddenly broke. Mr. Miller, in attempting to jump from the wagon fell violently to the ground, dislocating his hip. He was taken to the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Troutman, in Longview where he will be confined for a few weeks.

Black Creek boats of the oldest set of twins in the county and perhaps in the State. The twins are John and Vol Miller. On the 28th of April they will be 70 years of age. They have spent their entire life thus far together and are in good health at this writing.
