Source: Crawfordsville Journal, Tuesday, January 2, 1906
Loren Miller, one of the oldest citizens of this county, passed from earthly scenes Monday night of the infirmities of old age. For years he has been familiar figure on the streets of this city and had lived half a month longer would have been eighty-three years old. Mr. Miller was one of the very few veterans of the Mexican war who reside in this county. He served with credit throughout the conflict. For several years, Mr. Miller has not been actively engaged in any business. When the Colorado gold fever was at its height he went to that state and for a number of years was engaged in the mining business. He afterwards returned here and lived on a farm until he again took up his residence in this city. At the time of his death he was residing on west Market street. He was twice married. His first wife was Louisa Henry. To this union two children were born, one William Miller who is employed as a manager of the natural gas company of this city. The other, James Miller and his mother died several years ago. For a second wife he married Mrs. Jane Mitchell. She and a grandson, Donald Mitchell, who was residing with them survive. The funeral will occur at the residence Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. Earle Wilfney. The burial will be at Oak Hill.
