Joseph A. Miller, prominent Montgomery county farmer and member of the county board of commissioners, died unexpectedly Thursday morning at his farm southwest of New Ross after suffering a heart attack. He was stricken about 7:30 o’clock while attending to farm chores. Mr. Miller, a Republican, was serving the last year of his third term as a county commissioner. He was first elected to the county office nine years ago. Mr. Miller was born Dec. 3, 1893, in Walnut township where he spent his entire life. His parents were Henry and Nora Keller Miller. He married Ruth Mangus. He was a member of the New Ross Christian church and the Crawfordsville Eagles lodge. Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Mary McAnulty, of near New Ross, and Mrs. Dorothy Busenbark, of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Whitely, of New Ross; nine grandchildren and two step-sons, George Partner and Charles Partner. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the New Ross Christian church. Burial will be in the New Ross cemetery. Friends may call at the residence until an hour before services.
