Mary Easley, eldest daughter of Joseph W and Lucinda J Easley was born March 6, 1847 and departed this life August  27, 1910 aged 63Y 5M 21D. Feb 28, 1869 she was united in marriage to WJ Miles. To this union was born one daughter, Alice who died Nov 25, 1882 at the age of 12. This little one with father, mother and two sisters (Nannie and Emma) have preceded her to the Heavenly Home. She leaves to mourn their loss a loving and devoted husband, three brothers (Daniel, Benjamin and Tilghman), and two sisters, Sarah K and Lucinda F and a host of relatives and friends. Mary was of a quiet, affectionate disposition - beloved by all who knew her - and her death leaves a place vacant in the hearts of her loved ones that can never be filled. When but a young girl, she united with the Freedom Baptist Church and was one of its most faithful members until her death, attending all services regularly, even after she had moved to New Market. One of her last requests was the provision of a liberal sum for the keeping of Freedom Cemetery.  She was conscious to the last, leaving so many comforting thoughts with those who loved her best and among her last sayings were the words, "I am ready." She made all the arrangements for her funeral, naming the ministers she wished to officiate and those she wished to sing and met death in the calm, sweet way in which she had lived - a beautiful finish to a beautiful life. - transcribed by kbz (please give credit to this site or me if you are using this for any reason - I typed 'em  you did not - greatly appreciate that)
