Darlington Items -- George W. Mikels, an old and respected citizen of this place, died Feb. 2 and was buried on the 5th in the I. O. O. F. cemetery. He came to this county in the year 1830 and has lived in or around Darlington ever since. He was a recruit in old Co. I, 11th Ind Inf. and was drawing a pension of $12 per month. One by one we are passing over. So that will be one less for Rep. McAllister to examine in Darlington when he gets to work on us to see if we were worth from $2 to $12 per month for his friends to shoot at. - thanks to Kim H
