Michael - Cloyce

Cloyce P. Michael, 71, retired blacksmith, who also was identified with the restaurant business of Crawfordsville, died early Wednesday morning at his home, 804 E. College St. He had been ill several months. Born Feb 10, 1885, at Alamo, Mr. Michael was the son of James and Naomi Harwood Michael. He married Nora Plunkett at Danville, Ill June 25, 1907. Mr. Michael was a member of the Alamo Church and Modern Woodman Lodge. Mr. Michael retired from active business in 1951 after having been in the restaurant business here for a number of years. Previously he operated a blacksmithing shop in the 100 block of East Pike Street 30 years. His specialty was shoeing race horses. Surviving are the widow: one son, Carl E. Michael of Clintgon; a daughter, Mrs. Harney Wray of Ft. Jackson, SC: a brother, Floyd Michael of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Mrs. Alva Fishero of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Myrtle Brown of Washington, DC and two grandsons, Melvin and Keith Michael. He was preceded in death by a brother. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bright Funeral Home. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery. Rev. Donald McMahan of the FIrst Methodist Church will be the officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday. - transcribed by kbz
