Alice Misner, died May 10, 1887, aged 81 years 9 months and 10
days. She has been in poor health for a year before her last
sickness. She united with the Christian Church Feb. 17. She felt
that she would never be well again and expressed a willingness to
go. The following words were found written to be read after her
death. "I feel that my life is drawing to a close. Dress me in
pure and simple white and please don't grieve for me." On Sunday
evening she bade the friends all a loving farewell and exhorted
them to live faithful that they may meet her in heaven. She
wished the friends to sing for her, which they tried to do with
choked voices and blinding tears. She was a loving daughter and
faithful sister, beloved by all, ever thoughtful for the wants of
others. After they had sung for her she raised her eyes and said:
"I see the bright star of hope!" Dear Alice has left a token
behind that will last for time to come in the hearts of those
that loved her. She will be sadly missed in the home circle, and
in the neighborhood where she has always lived. Although it is
hard to give her up we have the blessed assurance that she has
gone to her rest to be called at the last day at the right hand
of God.
