Mrs. Grace Meritt, 81, of the Liberty Chapel Community, died at 10:45 a.m. Friday at her home three miles south of New Richmond on Rt. 6, Crawfordsville. The deceased was a member of the Liberty Chapel Church, Liberty Chapel Ladies Aid Society and the Roundhill Ladies Aid. She attended Elmdale School. She was born Feb. 14, 1890, the daughter of Leverett and Ethiez Swank Olin. She was married Sept. 12, 1910, to Virgil Meritt, who was former AFC committeeman and office manager and a prominent Montgomery County farmer. He preceded her in death Nov. 3, 1960. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Crowder of Waukegan, Ill.; a brother, Leland Olin, of near New Richmond; four granddaughters, Mrs. Maureen Thomas of Oakridge, Tenn., Mrs. Elaine Needham of Kokomo, Mrs. Pamela Burt of Indianapolis, anti Mrs. Sandra Smith of Crawfordsville; one grandson, Michael Meritt, Rt. 3, New Richmond, and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were the husband, two sons, Eugene and Olin Meritt; two brothers and a sister, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Imogene Sheets of Ladoga. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. Arthur Schenck officiated with Rev. Everett White assisting. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery.

She is survived by a foster daughter, Mrs. Imogene Sheets of Rt. 1, Ladoga; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Crowder of Waukegan, Ill.; a brother, Leland Olin of near New Richmond; four granddaughters, Mrs. Maureen Thomas of Oakridge, Tenn., Mrs. Elaine Needham of Kokomo, Mrs. Pamela Burt of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Sandra Smith of Crawfordsville; one grandson, Michael Meritt, Rt 1, New Richmond, and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Meritt was the daughter of the late Leverett and Effie Swank Olin.
