Dr. Paul Merrell, 54, Indianapolis died Wednesday night in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. He was a native of Waynetown and graduate of Waynetown HS. He was the son of William S. and Maude Merrell. Dr. Merrell was graduated from Franklin College and received his medical degrees from the University of Cincinnati. He was chairman of the neurology-surgery section of General Hospital and was consultant in neurosurgery at the Marion County TB Hospital. He was on the staff of Methodist, St. Vincent's, General, Community and St. Francis hospitals as well as Indiana University Medical Center. He was a member of the Fairview Methodist Church in Indianapolis. Surviving are his wife, Esther; a son, Stephen with the AF in Kansas; his father of Waynetown; two brothers, Judge Morris M. Merrell, Evansville and Marx Merrell, Howe; an aunt, Mrs. Rider Freeman of Crawfordsville and niece, Mrs. R.G. Landis of Crawfordsville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fall Creek Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary in Indianapolis.
