Waynetown - Mrs. Maude E. Merrell, 72, wife of William S. Merrell, died at 9:15 o'clock Tuesday night at Earl Lyle Nursing Home, east of New Market. Death was attributed to pneumonia. She had been ill since suffering a stroke 4 years ago. Born May 25, 1878 in the Roberts Chapel neighborhood. Mrs. Merrell was the daughter of Miles and Rhoda Quick Lewis. She married William S. Merrell June 23, 1897. She was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church. Surviving are the husband; 5 sons, Lewis Merrell of Bedford; Dr. Paul Merrell of Indianapolis; Dr. Basil Merrell of Rockville; Morris Merrell of Eveansville and Marx Merrell of Waynetown; 3 daughters, Mrs. Helen Jett, of Ft. Wayne; Mrs. Rhoda Hartzell of Beech Grove and Mrs. Blanche Boling of River Forest, Ill. 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Waynetown Baptist Church with burial at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, Rev. Harvey Burns will be the officiating minister.
