Elmdale - Services were conducted today for Avery C. Merrell, 86 of Rt 1, Wingate in Thomas Funeral Home with burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Mr. Merrell died at 10:25 p.m. Friday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville where he had been a patient one day. He was a thresher by trade 33 years and later a self-employed mechanic. Member of the Elmdale Community Church and had livedin Elmodale community all his life. Born Dec 4, 1891 at Elmdale, he was a son of John and Margaret Ann Johnson Merrell. He was married to Leva Utterback of Elmdale Jan 6, 1915. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Russell of Muncie; a daughter, Mrs. John R. (Mary Jane) Servies of Crawfordsville; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A son, Ray; and infant son, Richard and 3 brothers are deceased. -- kbz - thanks to Proctors :)
