Ansel R. Merrell, 77, of Waynetown, died Sunday (Aug. 29, 1971) in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been a patient since Tuesday and he had been ill for several months. He was born March 16, 1894, in Montgomery County, the son of John B. and Margaret Ann Johnson Merrell. On Feb. 20, 1922, he married Carrie Bolen of Waynetown. He was a member of the Liberty Chapel Community Church. He had farmed in Montgomery County all his life. Survivors include his widow; two brothers, Avery of Elmdale and Ruben of Muncie; two granddaughters and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Faye, in 1958 and a brother, Hugo. Services Tuesday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home, with Rev. John R. Servies officiating. Burial in the Masonic Cemetery.
