Hillsboro, Dec 23 - Rachel Emma Melvin, 80, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Miller, west of here today. She had been ill for several weeks, death following a heart attack. Mrs. Melvin was born in Montgomery County, Ohio Dec 9, 1862. She was the daughter of Ella and Elizabeth Dyke. She married Charles Melvin Dec 30, 1882. He died in 1932. She was a member of the Alamo Christian Church. She had lived near Alamo most of her life. Survivors are her daughter and four sons, Ernest of Hillsboro and Glenn, Clyde and Howard of Alamo. 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive. Two sons, Fred and Augustus, died several years ago. Fred, serving with the US Navy in World War I was killed in action and Augustus died in 1927. Funeral services will be held at the Alamo church at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. John Servies will officiate. Burial will be at the Alamo cemetery. - transcribed by kbz
