Harold C. MELVIN, 61, of 606 S. Walnut Street died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday at his home. He had been in failing health for 3 years. Mr. Melvin was employed by RR Donnelley & Sons for 35 years until his retirement in 1970. He was a pressman. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Alamo Masonic Lodge, Alamo Order of Eastern Star, Donnelley Square Club & Sugar Creek Bird Dog Club. Born August 20, 1910, at Emmenice, Kansas he was a son of Augustus & Grace Jones Melvin. He graduated from Alamo HS in 1930. He was married in 1937 to Eleanor Stockdale. They were married at Waynetown. Survivors include the widow, a son Alan at home; a daughter, Mrs. Marcia Caldwell of Rt 1, Crawfordsville; two brothers, Leland of Terre Haute and Howard of CMR 8; a sister, Mrs. Tom Bowerman of Rt 3, Crawfordsville and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Powers' Funeral Home here with Rev. Guy Tremaine and Rev. Paul Jump officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown. - kbz
