Waynetown - Beatrice A. Melvin, 95, Rt 1, Waynetown died at 12:35 p.m. April 26, 1993, at the AMI Culver Union Hospital, Crawfordsville. She was born near Yountsville, August 29, 1897, the daughter of Ad and Ida F. Denman VanCleave. She married C. Clyde Melvin, June 1, 1916 at Crawfordsville. He preceded in death in November 1978. She was a graduate of Alamo HS. She was a homemaker. She had been a resident of Carmen Nursing Home since December 1992. She was a member of the Alamo Christian Church, Alamo Ladies Aid Society and she formerly wrote the "Texas School House Newsletter" for the Journal Review paper. Surviving are two sons, Hobart E. Melvin, Toledo, Ohio; Leslie "Sprout" Melvin, Rt 1, Waynetown; a daughter, Helen Maxine Elson, Meza Ariz; 20 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 22 great great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Howard Melvin and Oscar Ackerson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cramer-Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown with Rev. James Daniel officiating. Burial in Alamo Cemetery.
