Funeral services for George E. Melvin ,57 of 1010 Elmore St who was fatally stricken while driving home from his work Thursday afternoon at Lafayette will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Cato will officiate with interment in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Melvin was pronounced dead in Culver Hospital at 4:15 p..m. Thursday. Mr. Melvin had worked for Alcoa in the maintenance department for 32 years. He was a member of the National Guard 23 years and served with the US Air Force during WWII. He was a member of American Legion and an association member of FOP. He was educated in the Crawfordsville schools. Mr. Melvin was born March 17, 1917 at Crawfordsville, a son of the late Edmond Melvin and Nora Shafer Melvin. He was married to Evelyn Hudson on Oct 14, 1939 at Crawfordsville. Surviving with the widow and mother are a son, Ernest Leroy of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Diana Kay of Crawfordsville; 3 brothers, Kenneth, Charles and Max Melvin of Crawfordsville 3 granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. His father and 3 brothers are deceased.
