Meharry - Eddie Everett

New Richmond, July 7 – Eddie Everett Meharry 77 prominent farmer in this vicinity, died last night at 10 o’clock at his home, Maple View farm southwest of here. Born in the Meharry Homestead in Jackson Township, he was a son of North and Letitia (Greenfield) Meharry, pioneer settlers. On Nov 17, 1897, he married Emma Lansemar who died in 1930. On Dec 5, 1934, he married Cornelia Welty of Crawfordsville, who survives with a brother, Ira G. Meharry and sister, Miss Anna V. Meharry, both of New Richmond. Mr. Meharry was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, Crawfordsville. He attended the old Shawness Academy and was graduated from DePauw University in 1888. Friends may call at the residence Saturday.

Colfax – Ed Meharry, 79, died at his home near New Richmond, Ind at 10 p.m. Thursday after a lingering illness of a year with hardening of the arteries. Funeral services will be held from the home at 2 p.m. Saturday and burial will be in the family cemetery near his home. Mr. Meharry was born near New Richmond, Ind and grew to manhood there. Then his two sisters and brother came to Illinois and lived on a farm until he was married. He married Miss Emma Lamphear of Fairbury. They lived on the Meharry farm three miles southeast of town for about 40 years, when they moved to New Richmond. Mrs. Meharry died Aug 5, 1930. He married again and is survived by his wife; one sister, Miss Anna Meharry and one brother, Ira of New Richmond. There are also a number of nieces and nephews. At the time of their residence near Colfax he was a membr of the Presbyterian Church. - kz
