James W. Meese, 47, of 1714 Ladoga Rd., died Friday afternoon in Veterans Hospital at Indianapolis after an illness of several months. He was a son of James W. and Katherine McKinney Meese and was born Aug. 12, 1919 in St. Joseph, Ill. He was married Aug. 11, 1946 to Jean Priest. Mr. Meese had been employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for the last 20 years. He was a World War II veteran, serving four years in the U.S. Army in the Pacific theatre. He was a member of Byron Cox Post of the American Legion. Surviving besides the wife are a daughter, Janet Lynn, at home; the father, at Decatur, Ind.; four brothers, Wilbur of Indianapolis, Ray of Linden, Lawrence of Mt. Clair, Calif., and Howard of Crawfordsville; and two sisters, Roberta Hall of Lafayette and May Hullinger of Decatur, Ind. Funeral rites are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Milo Riggs will officiate and burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Burial was in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with the floral tributes were Dan Hughes, Enos Hiatt; Max Adams, Damon Warren, Joe Gill, and Marvin Hamilton. Selections were played on the organ by Mrs. O. C. Edwards. Mr. Meese, who had been with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 20 years, died Friday in the Veterans Hospital at Indianapolis.
