Mears - Martha Steffler

Lapel - Mrs. Martha Mears, 86, died Thursday afternoon at a nursing home in Martinsville after an extended illness. Her husband Kenneth preceded her in death. Born in Crawfordsville, she lived in Madison County for the past 50 years and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel. Surviving are six children, Mrs. Keith (Rosemary) Merrick, Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. William (Doris) Skelton, Indianapolis; Morris (Bud) of Bradenton, Fla.; William, Detroit, Mich.; James of Saudi Arabia, and Douglas Mears, South Bend.Graveside rites will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson with the Rev. Keith Davis officiating. There will be no calling hours at Fisher Brothers Funeral Home, Lapel.

Note: She would be (I think this is right) the daughter of Frederick Charles Steffler (born 16 October 1866 in Germany died ? ) and Amanda Adeline Maxwell born 1869 died 1945 - these are double cousins to two of my six grandsons and I'd love more information if anyone has it :) Thanks, KZ
Furthering these two families, Frederick is the son of Chrstian Johann Steffler born 10 Nov 1836 in Neckarsulm, Wurtemberg, Germany died in Boone Co IN 3 March 1888) and Louisa Unger 28 July 1845 - 24 Jan 1923 (died in Anderson) - I have more information if wanted. Amanda Maxwell was the daughter of Caswell Finley Maxwell b Salem, Washington Co IN 5 June 1835 - 1 March 1898 and Mary E. Myers 7 March 1836 Wash Co IN 15 April 1899 Crawfordsville, yes, back home again in Montgomery County :)
