Danville, Ill May 18 - Charles W. MeHarry veteran railroad conductor and afterwards a barber for many years in northeast Danville is dead at Jamestown, ND where he went a year ago The end came Tuesday afternoon but relatives in this city have not been appraised of the nature of the trouble that carried him away. He was apparently in good health when the last word was received here preceding the telegram that told of his death. The body left Jamestown Thursday forenoon accompanied by the members of the family and is expected to reach this city some time Saturday. Mr. Meharry was 63 years of age having been born Aug 29, 1853 at Covington, Ind and was a member of the widely known Meharry family of Western Indiana who for years held annual reunions at Meharry's Grove near the boundary of Montgomery and Fountain counties. He was married in 1874 to Miss Clara Gebhart of Covington and was father of a large family of children. The widow who was with him at Jamestown and the following children survive: John, Clyde, Lester and Clifford Meharry; Mrs. Ada Hagerman and Mrs. IV Lake, all of this city; Frank Meharry of Miles City,. Mont; Mrs. HL Briggs and Miss Ruth Meharry of Jamestown, ND. Mrs O Redden and James Meharry brother and sister both residing at Covington and his aged stepmother of Covington survive. Although nothing definite is known of the burial plans and will not until the distant relatives are consulted it is regarded as very probably the body will be taken to Covington for interment.
