McSweeney, Jesse Lee

Jesse Lee McSweeney, well known local resident and a veteran of the Spanish-American war, died at his home, 1803 east Wabash avenue, at 3:15 o'clock Saturday morning. He had been ill the past week. Death was attributed to heart disease.
Mr. McSweeney was born in Ohio, June 5, 1871 the son of Howard and Mary McSweeney. He was united in marriage, September 4, 1907 to Anna Powers of Covington, Ind. He was a member of the Ingersoll Christian Church of near Waynetown and Frank Britton camp of the United Spanish War Veterans.
Mr. McSweeney's services during the war was with company L of the 3rd Kentucky infantry. He enlisted at Lexington, Ky., May 20, 1898 and was honorably discharged May 16, 1899.
Surviving are: the widow, a brother and sister and several nephews and nieces.
The body was taken to the Proffitt & Sons funeral home where friends may pay their respects. Funeral services will be held there at two o'clock Monday afternoon with the Rev. E.A. Arthur officiating. Burial will be at Masonic cemetery.
