Walter R. McNeeley, 74, former Crawfordsville resident died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday in Gary. Mr. McNeeley and his wife owned and operated the Village Sportwear store in a Gary shopping center. He had been associated with Blaw-Knox Co. in Gary. He moved to Gary in 1933 after having managed Woolworth stores in Indiana, Ohio and Iowa. He had been employed by the Woolworth store here as a window decorator before being named manager of another store. Mr. McNeeley was a member of the First Baptist Church and Sharine at South bend. A native of Crawfordsville, he was born Feb 11, 1896, a son of WIlliam H. and Daisy McNeeley. He was educated in Crawfordsville schools. Surviving are his widow, Lillian Barbara, a sister, Mrs. Evangeline Hansel of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Herb Lukmann of Gary and granddaughter, Miss Jane Leslie Lukmann of Chicago. Masonic rites will be conducted Friday evening at Gary. The body will be flown to Prescott, AZ for burial.
