Mrs. Lela McMillin died at 6 o’clock last Thursday morning at the home of her parents, Mr., and Mrs. T. M. Shotts, in the south part of town. She had been ill for many month's, tuberculosis being the cause of her death. To the last she clung to life in the hope of recovery. The funeral occurred from the home at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. fl. D. Dick, pastor of the New Richmond. Methodist church of which the deceased was a member. Interment was made in the family lot in the New Richmond cemetery. The pallbearers were Misses Nettie Hanawault, Bess Lehman, Mae Coffman, Ethel Turner, Jessie McNeil, and Mrs. Ina Alexander. The following obituary was read as a part of the funeral service: Leia Iota McMiliin, daughter of Theodore M. and Nora Shotts, was born in Frankfort, Ind., February 6, 1891; died at her home in New Richmond December 17, 1914, at the age of 28 years, 10 mouths and 11 days. After a prolonged illness, borne with a fortitude and resignation possessed only by those who know their Lord, she approached the inevitable awaiting each and all of us. She was thoroughly conversant with the Bible, was almost constantly breathing a prayer, and has left behind her a clear testimony that she sought a city that bath foundations whose maker and builder is God. Three sisters have preceded her into the spirit world—Pauline, Frances and Esther. She was married September 30, 1911. She is survived by her little son Benjamin Claud, age two. She is survived also by her father and mother, * three brothers, Grover Shotts of Clark’s Hill, Ben Shotts of the U. S. navy stationed at Bosten, and Richard; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Work of Monmouth, 111., and Gay Shotts; and her grandmother, Mrs. Susan Clemson of Darlington. . Slip, was a loyal and consistent member pf the-Methodist Episcopal church. Her membership has how: been transferred to the church triumphant.
