David H. McMains died at his home in Hoopeston IL Saturday morning. Death came suddenly, he being in his usual health on Friday afternoon and able to eat his breakfast on Saturday morning. He then complained of a severe pain in his head, became unconscious and died at 8. He was born in Waveland September 12, 1843. At the age of 19 he enlisted in Co. C 40th Indiana and served through the war. He was 5 months in Andersonville. After returning home he lived at various places in Illinois. He married Miss Catherine Griffing of Blue Grass and to them 5 children were born: who with Mrs. McMains, survive. Mrs. HA Pratt; Mrs. Alfrey and Mrs. W.R. Kelso, his sisters, went to Hoopeston to attend the funeral.
