A telegram received Tuesday by John Brown announces the sudden death of Peter McMahon at Michigan City today. The particulars are not known, but the death was very sudden. The deceased was well known in this city, where he resided a number of years. His wife was Miss Julia Brown, who died about five years ago. He was made a guard at the Northern Prison, in which capacity he served for a number of years when he resigned and purchased a saloon at Michigan City and has since operated it.- kbz

The remains of the late Peter C. McMahon arrived in the city Wednesday from Michigan City and were taken to the residence of his sister, Mrs. Sullivan on north Walnut street. The cause of his death was the rupture of a blood vessel. The deceased was born in Ireland and was 38 years old. His wife died some years ago, but he has a number of brothers living in the central part of the state, and two sisters and a brother in Australia. He leaves an estate worth about $2,500. The funeral services took place Thursday morning at 9:30 o’clock from St. Bernard’s Church. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. = kbz
