ATTICA — Mrs. Virginia McKinney, 80, of Attica, died unexpectedly at her home Monday at 6:20 p.m. The daughter of a Presbyterian minister, she was a member of the Newtown Presbyterian Church, but had attended the First Methodist Church in Attica where she had lived for approximately 10 years. She was a member of the Booster Class, the Women's Society of Christian Service, the Monday Club, the Research Club and the Fountain County Historical Society. She was born at Garrison, Iowa, on Aug. 30, 1886, to Dr. Thomas and Ida Beale Pearce. On Sept. 29, 1909, she married Glenn E. McKinney at Waveland. He died in 1949. She and her husband had made their home on a farm east of Newtown prior to his death. After his death, she lived in West Lafayette for eight years before moving to Attica. Survivors include a son, Lawrence, of Newtown; two daughters, Mrs. Gerald McCord of Washington, Mo., and Mrs. Paul R. Foster, of Attica, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the DeSutter Funeral Home in Attica. Attica, Ind. (CNS) --- Mrs. Virginia McKinney, 80, of Attica and formerly of Newtown, died unexpectedly at her home at 6:20 p.m. Monday (Aug. 14, 1967). Mrs. McKinney had spent seven weeks in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette and had returned home only a few days ago. Mrs. McKinney was born Aug. 30, 1886 in Garrison, Iowa the daughter of Dr. Thomas and Ida Beale Pearce. She married Glenn McKinney of Newtown Sept. 29, 1909. They resided on a farm east of Newtown until his death Oct. 3, 1949. She had resided in Attica the past seven years. She was a member of the Booster Class and the WSCS of the Attica Methodist Church, the Monday Club, the Research Club, the Fountain County Historical Society, and the Newtown Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a son Lawrence of Newtown; two daughters, Mrs. Gerald McCord of Washington, Mo., and Mrs. Paul Foster of Newtown; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by the husband, two brothers, and two sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the DeSutter Funeral Chapel with burial in the Family Cemetery east of Newtown. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 tonight.
