The Rev. James G. McMURTRY 84 of Houston, Texas, a prominent  graduate of Wabash College who for more than half a century was a  Presbyterian minister was found dead Thursday in his car near  Houston, according to a message received by a sister, Miss  Sophronia McMurtry, 215 W. Main Street. Rev. McMurtry was enroute  from Dallas, Texas to Houston where he was to have preached his  first sermon Sunday as pastor for a Huston Presbyterian Church,  was believed to have died of a heart attack. Mr. McMurtry was  born near Marshall where he spent his boyhood. He was graduated  from Wabash College in the class of 1893 and entered the ministry  after attending theological school. Mr. McMurtry was a frequent  visitor in Waveland, having given his lecture of the 23rd Psalm  here not long ago. Surviving besides his sister are a son, James  G. McMurtry, Jr. of Houston, Tx and a daughter in Fredricksburg,  VA. The son attended Wabash College in the class of 1924. The  funeral was held Saturday at Houston where burial was made.
