McIntyre - Rose

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Review 4 June 1892 p 5

Rose McIntyre, an inmate of Lillie Waters’ house, 182 W. Market St. died from morphine poisoning, self-administered Tuesday night about 10 o’clock. It is plainly evident that the girl wanted to die, for she might easily have saved her life had she so chosen or had the proper effort been made. She took the dose between 4 and 5 o’clock in the afternoon and its effects became apparent a short time after. Dr. Prunk was called and with only a cursory examination left, declaring nothing serious to be the matter with the woman. She kept getting worse, however and about 9 o’clock a call came to the police station saying that Dr. Earl was wanted down there if he could be found ”without too much trouble.” He was not at his office and happened to call up the station house a half hour later, when he was informed, and went at once to see the girl. She had been dead 10 minutes when he arrived. Rose McIntyre was 22 years od age and a rather prepossessing brunette, petite in form and generally gay in spirits.  She came to his city from Crawfordsville several years ago and has since lived around at the various house of ill repute -Indianapolis Sun - kbz

She had been dead ten minutes when he arrived. Rose McIntyre was 22 years of age, and a rather prepossessing brunette, petite in form, and generally gay in spirits.
