Crawfordsville – the body of Mrs. Ethel McGaughey, missing Crawfordsville woman was found yesterday afternoon in Sugar Creek about 3 miles west of here. It was found on a sand bar about 1 mile west of an iron bridge where the search had been concentrated. Discovery of the body ended a week long dragging of the stream by sheriff’s deputies, conservation agents, state police, civil defense workers and volunteers. Mrs. McGaughey, 70 year old widow of Arthur McGaughey, Crawfordsville attorney, left her home here April 19.  She was last seen walking along the county highway near the scene of the search. Sheriff Merle Remley who directed the hunt said Mrs. McGaughey had been despondent since the death of her husband a year ago. The body was taken to the Proffitt & Brown Funeral Home.  Arrangements for the services are incomplete. Survivors include three sons, Robert, Warren and Richard McGaughey, Crawfordsville businessmen.- kbz
