McDaniel - Bessie Lafferty

Bessie Lafferty McDaniel, 85,
former Crawfordsville area resident, died at her home on Rt. 1 Battle Ground at
11:30 a.m. Tuesday after an illness of two days. A native of near Romney, she
was a daughter of George and Margaret Royer Lafferty and was born March 31,
1882. She married Joseph McDaniel in 1933 at Hoppeston, Ill. He died in 1943.
She moved from this community to the Battle Ground neighborhood in 1944. Mrs.
McDaniel was a member of the Baptist Church here. Surviving are a daughter by a
former marriage, Mrs. Hazel Martin of Rt. 1 Battle Ground; a brother, Fred
Lafferty of Rt. 9 Lafayette, and a grandson, great-grandson and
great-great-grandson, besides nieces and nephews. Funeral services are set for
1 p.m. Friday at Landis-Loy Mortuary at Lafayette, where friends may call after
6 p.m. Thursday. Rev. John Servies will officiate, and burial will be in
Elmwood Cemetery at Romney. – jlr
