McCune - Anna Patterson

Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal Thursday, 26 December 1918

Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock the funeral of Mrs. Charles Richard McCune was held at the residence in North Marshall in charge of Rev. Sarah T. McKey.  Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of John H. McCampbell, Clarence McMurtry, Charles D. Smith and Mrs. Harry C. Beeson.  Burial was at Bethany Cemetery. Deceased was the mother of 5 children, two sons and three daughters, Henry, James, Mrs. Ora Wetherford of Atwood, Ill;  Mrs. SB Demaree of Bellmore and Miss Mary McCune, at home. She was the daughter of John and Sherrill Patterson born in Armisburg and was married in her parents home in 1882 to Charles Richard McCune. They lived there until 1887 when they moved to their farm 3 miles east of Marshall. Her illness was of 10 months' duration caused by nervous trouble with complications suffering intensely but borne with Christian spirit. The last 8 weeks of her illness were spent in Terre Haute taking medical treatment in the home of her two sisters, Mrs. Dooley and Mrs. Stout. Her youngest daughter Mary was with her continually.  Her death is made more pathetic because the family just a week ago moved to the present home here and she fondly anticipated the family reunion on Christmas, when they and the four grandchildren would gather to enjoy the day in their new home On the morning of Dec 21 she passed peacefully away. The body was brought to the home here Sat evening and on Sun was viewed by many friends up to the time of the funeral which was held in the home on account of the influenza ban.  Mrs. McCune was in her 58th year and a worthy woman, truly devoted to family and a good neighbor. - kbz
