Mrs. Barbara McCranor, formerly of this place, died on Friday morning at Indianapolis at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Wasson. Her body was brought to this city and yesterday afternoon her funeral was preached at the First Presbyterian Church by Rev. H.L. Nave. Mrs. McCranor left but one child, Mrs. Wasson. Cliff Voris of this city was her grandson. Mrs. McCranor died from old age. She was born in Montgomery County, Ohio, in 1811. She came to Crawfordsville to make it her home in 1870, and until Mrs. Wasson went to the state capital this had since that been her home, hence the body was brought here for interment.
Note: Barbara’s death certificate gives no indication of her parentage although her daughter you’d think would know her grandparents’ names at least. Sad. - kbz

Indianapolis at 3 o’clock last Friday after a short illness. Mrs. McCranor would have been ninety years old next month and her death was caused by old age and a general breaking down of the system. She went to Indianapolis two or three months ago and was taken sick only about a week ago. The body was brought to this city Saturday afternoon and taken at once to the First Presbyterian Church, where the funeral services were conducted at two o’clock by Rev. H. C. Nave, pastor of the church. Mrs. McCranor was born in Montgomery County, Ohio, in December, 1812, and came to this city in the early ‘70’s, having resided here since that time. She leaves but one child, a son having died several years ago. She was the grandmother of Clifford Voris, of this city, and had many warm friends here who will be pained to learn of her death. She was a kindly Christian old lady whose life was a long and useful one.
