Delbert McCormick, 69, Montgomery county farmer, living three miles northwest of here, died suddenly Monday morning after suffering a heart attack at his farm home. He was stricken while attending to farm chores at the barn. His body was found by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ralph McCormick. Born June 11, 1881, in Owen county near Spencer, Mr. McCormick was married twice. His first marriage was in 1906 to Carrie Edith McCay, who died in 1936. Two years later Mr. McCormick married Anna Murdock Thomas, who survives. Mr. McCormick, who was active in civic and fraternal affairs, was a member of the Jackson Heights Methodist church, Romney Masonic lodge and the Elks lodge of Lafayette. He also was a trustee of Jackson township in Tippecanoe county from 1934 to 1938. Mr. McCormick, a resident of Montgomery county nine years, moved to the present home in 1943. Previously he was engaged in farming in Tippecanoe county near Romney. Surviving, besides the widow, are five sons, Herbert, Ora and Harold McCormick, all of Jackson township, Ralph McCormick, of Lafayette, and Keith McCormick, of Lebanon; a daughter, Mrs. Vivian Thomas, of Lafayette, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock (CDT) Thursday afternoon at the Jackson Heights Methodist church, with burial at the cemetery, northwest of the church. Friends may pay their respects at the family home in Linden.
