McCormack - Jasper Newton

Becoming suddenly ill while at work in a corn field Monday afternoon Newton McCormack, aged 65, died at his home on South Oak Street at a few minutes before two Tuesday morning. Death is thought to have been caused by uremic poisoning. On Monday morning the man was in his usual good health while at work on the farm of Newton Larrick, south of the city. He went to the house at the dinner hour and still was apparently in the best of health. He was found two hours later lying prostrate in the field. He was conscious and was able to explain that he had suddenly become ill. He was taken to his home where he became unconscious at 4 in the afternoon. The dead man was born in this county and had spent all his life here. He was a well known resident. His widow, Florence McCormack, and 8 children: Mrs. John McCarty; Mrs. James McDonald; Mrs. Lawrence Grimes; Mrs. William Plunkett; Ruth; Ruby; Ralph and Howard McCormack survive. Four sisters, Mr. W. I. Buchannon, Mrs. Thomas Mason; Mrs. John Mason and Mrs. Milt Wilkinson are also living. Funeral services were conducted from his late home at 2:30 Thursday afternoon.
