VEEDERSBURG — Mrs. Emily J. McCord, a resident of this community since 1896, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill. Mrs. McCord, who would have been 99 next Oct. 24, had been hospitalized three weeks since she sustained a broken hip in a fall at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Jones, at Crawfordsville. She had made her home with her daughter in recent months. Born Oct. 24, 1863, in Parke County, she was a daughter of Samuel and Margaret Heath. She married William H. McCord Aug. 28, 1881. He died Nov. 11, 1931. Mrs. McCord was a member of the Veedersburg EUB Church. Survivors include the daughter with whom she made her home; a son, Dr. Carl B. McCord, who is a physician here; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Smith of Yeddo; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Arlie LaBaw. Dr. G. C. McCord of Crawfordsville is a grandson. The body was brought to the Fishero Funeral Home here where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. J. Samuel Pritchard will officiate. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home - ww

Veedersburg – Mrs. Emily Jane McCord, 98 of Veedersburg died in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill at 5 p.m. Wednesday. She was a patient there three weeks after suffering a hip fracture in a fall in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Audrey Jones with whom she was living at Crawfordsville.  Born in Parke County she lived in the Veedersburg community for 65 years and was the widow of William H. McCord who died in 1931. They were married in 1881. Mrs. McCord who would have been 99 years old on Oct 24 was a member of the EUB Church. She and her husband formerly operated a shoe store here and she later operated a rooming house. Surviving with the daughter are a son, Dr. Paul B. McCord of Veedersburg and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Smith of Yeddo. – kbz
