Mrs. Elizabeth N. McCollum, 82, lifelong resident of Fountain and Montgomery counties, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Susie Crane, 506 South Green Street, Wednesday night at 9:30 o'cloc. Death was due to a stroke of paralysis the deceased suffered last Sunday. For the past three years, coming here from oWaynetown, where she previously resided, Mrs. McCollum had lived at the home of her daughter.
Mrs. McCollum was born Oct 3, 1852 near Newtown. She was the daughter of John and Nancy Plunkett Leighty. She was married 60 years ago to Thomas McCollum who died March 28, 1923. She was a member of the Baptist Church west of Newtown.
The survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Crane at whose home she died and Mrs. Dicie Crumley of Hillsboro; two sons, Samuel McCollum of Veedersburg and Everett McCollum of Wingate; 32 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Elsie Smith of Veedersburg and two brothers, James Leighty of near Hillsboro and Samuel Leighty of Parkersburg. The funeral services will be held at the Waynetown Baptist Church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Charles Howard of Veedersburg, assisted by Rev. IC Overman will be in charge.
