A message was received this morning at 8 o'clock from
Bogalusa, LA announcing the death of George McFarland, VP and
Manager of production of the Pioneer Box Company of this city.
McFarland's death comes as a shock to this community as he was in
his usual health when he left home here Sunday. The Pioneer Box
Company has a plant at Goalusa and Mr. McFarland had gone to that
city to transact business for the company. The deceased is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex McFarland of E. St. Louis, and a nephew
of C. O. McFarland of this city. Besides these he is survived by
his wife and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Tevebaugh of Atlanta
Ga; Mrs. Gene Gabhart of E. St. Louis. Mr. McFarland had been with the Pioneer Box Company about twelve years. This afternoon a
message was received saying: Mr. McFarland had died of pulmonary
hemorrhage and that his body would arrive here Sunday. Funeral
arrangements will be announced later. - typed by kbz
