Funeral services for John McCREARY, 89 year old Civil War veteran who died
at Culver Hospital Thursday night will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the
home of 5 miles NE of this place. Rites will be in charge of the Rev. Samuel G.
Smith, with burial in the New Ross Cemetery. Mr. McCreary was one of the best
known farmers in this vicinity. He served in the Civil War with the union
forces from 1862 to 1865. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at
Jamestown. Surviving are 3 nephews: Chester McCreary of Ladoga; Jake Page of
North Salem and Amos Thompson of Albuquerque, NM. - typed by kbz
